During the 2016 Fall Season all USTA Texas section Junior Team Tennis Programs collected ratings when a player registered. If a player had played in four or more matches recorded on Tennis link, this can be from tournaments or JTT, in the past 18 months then they already have a rating. If the player had not played four matches recorded on Tennis link, then the player needed to self-rate before they signed-up for the Fall JTT season.
The Junior Team Tennis section sub-committee has determined that the USTA Junior Rating system (this is different than UTR) provides a more accurate qualification for Beginner/Intermediate level players. This will result in more evenly matched players competing against one another. The ratings system is mandatory (as of 2017) for the 14 Intermediate & Advanced players as well as the 18U Intermediate & Advanced players on the National Championship track.
Remember, if the player has played in four or matches recorded on Tennis link in the past 18 months then they already have a rating. Players can check to see if they have a rating by logging in to their Tennis link account and under the ‘My Tennis’ section of your account. Below are some links that explain the rating system and how to self-rate a player.
